Why they don't deserve a raise

The Martingrove Student Administrative Council should not raise the price of the SAC card to $35 next Monday.

First, this is the first school day after Club Carousel. The grade nines, who may be confused about the role of the SAC or unaware of the diversity of clubs it funds, should certainly be given more time to consider their purchase. Furthermore, impressionable grade nines have probably also been receiving various anti-SAC opinions from older MCI students. Club Carousel would give the SAC and all other MCI clubs - who also have an interest in strong SAC card sales - a chance to explain themselves.

Second, a 40% price increase is excessive. At $25, the MCI SAC card is already expensive when compared to other local high schools. Also, this increase is hardly an encouragement to buy your SAC card; those who have waited for two weeks are probably already sceptical and they will only feel as if they are being cheated.

Finally, even if such an increase is justified - which it is obviously not - why so soon? There have been less than two weeks of school. If the SAC wants to spend less time selling SAC cards, then they should sell them for fewer days each week, not attempt to alienate SAC-sceptics by effectively extorting an additional $10.
