Unoriginal design, fiscal
irresponsibility plague Ursus

The MFP has been informed that layouts from Martingrove's 2002 "Ursus" yearbook widely considered to be the one of the best yearbooks in recent years were extensively adapted from the University of Toronto School's (UTS) 2001 yearbook, "Twig". Upon simultaneous examination of the two publications, one will find striking resemblances in the layouts of their respective editors' messages, teachers' pages and section introductions.

The 2003 Ursus organization has also been beset with financial troubles as a result of fiscal mismanagement during the 2001-2002 year. At the beginning of this year, Friesens, the publisher of Ursus, submitted an invoice to the club requesting the immediate payment of an outstanding $20,000 bill for printing last year's yearbooks. A $400 interest fee was also imposed because of the late payment.

When asked for comment about how the organization intends to increase responsibility this year, Andrew Wong, the current Ursus co-editor, stated: "We are currently working hard to achieve an original and appealing yearbook which could be considered the best 'unique' yearbook in years."
